Plant A Church
The Vineyard is a church-planting movement. Beginning with only a handful of churches, the Vineyard has exploded into more than 1500 churches throughout the world. How? Church planting.
Our movement is comprised of brave people who were led by God to begin new, innovative, empowered churches that challenge the norm. Throughout our history we’ve resourced, coached, and supported hundreds and hundreds of church-planters.
If you’re interested in planting a church, contact us. That’s the first step. We have a robust network of coaches. You will be connected with someone who will talk with you on a personal level, and show you how to take the next step.

7 Steps to Get Started in Church Planting
Where To Start
1. Contact the Regional Church Planting Coordinator (Regional CPC) and discuss your interest in Church Planting.
2. Ask for the Church Planting Application Packet. You can download them on the Vineyard National website. Complete the Vineyard Church Planting Application and have the Sending Pastor’s Recommendation Form completed (return forms to Jeff Anderle).
3. Schedule your assessment through the Regional CPC.
- Your assessment will be scheduled within 6 weeks of receiving the application and pastor recommendation at the Regional CPC’s office.
- There is a $200 assessment fee that is generally paid by the sending church and should be sent with the Sending Pastor’s Recommendation.
4. Complete the Assessment
- Your pre-assessment questionnaire will be sent to you (either through the mail or electronically) so you can fill it out and have it handed in prior to your Assessment.
- The Assessment takes about 6 hours.
- The potential church planter will travel to the location of the Vineyard pastor doing the assessment (the assessor is assigned by the Regional CPC).
- The goal of the assessment is to help you and your sending pastor in determining your calling and readiness for church planting. We will give specific suggestions for further preparation and make recommendations on how to proceed.
5. Assessment Write-up and Review
- You will receive a copy of your assessment write up from the Regional CPC within two weeks of the assessment.
- You should contact your Assessor to schedule a telephone review of the assessment. The review will allow you to ask your questions and give the assessor a chance to explain his conclusions.
- If the assessment indicates that you are ready to plant, the write up will be designed to help you and your coach proceed with the church plant. If you are not quite ready but you are clearly called to be a church planter, the write-up will include specific suggestions to help you and your pastor as you prepare. If we feel that church planting may not be the right fit for you, the write-up will suggest mentoring assignments to help you understand what is in your heart and possible next steps.
- A copy of the assessment will also be sent to the Sending Pastor and Coach.
6. Meet with your Coach, begin working on any assignments that have come out of the Assessment.
7. Write up Two Year Plan and Sign and return forms:
